Where Love Resides

A woman sits on a bed in a dim room, appearing contemplative. "Where Love Resides" and "Eden on Fire" are text overlays.

Where Love Resides comes from a place of feeling alone, even when you’re not physically by yourself.

It’s that disconnect where someone is right there beside you, but emotionally it feels like there’s nothing there. You start to question everything — not just the relationship, but yourself. Why does this keep happening? Why does it always feel like something is missing?

The song reflects that pattern of feeling let down, of searching for something real and never quite finding it. That sense that love is always just out of reach, no matter how much you want it or how hard you try to hold onto it.

At the beginning of the song, it opens with me speaking the words over a softer, sung vocal underneath. It has a more delicate, almost reflective feel at first. But as the song builds, that emotion shifts. The softness gives way to a grittier, more raw vocal, because underneath that quiet sadness is something heavier that can’t stay buried.

Where Love Resides is about that space between hope and reality — where you’re still searching, still holding on, but starting to realize that something isn’t right.

Where Love Resides

Lyrics by Amy Gould – Eden On Fire

Alone again in the dark You lay beside me but I'm alone in my heart

Alone again in the night darkness surrounds me and nothing feels all right

Forever and ever seem so far behind

The heart surrenders to a fate unkind

Always searching for a way to rewind

Out of reach is always where it seems love resides

Alone again ever unseen feel the emptiness there's nothing in between

Alone again at the edge crying out someone help me from this ledge

Forever and ever seem so far behind

The heart surrenders to a fate unkind

Always searching for a way to rewind

Out of reach is always where it seems love resides

Alone again never ends no matter what I do they always feign, pretend

Alone again in the dark You lay beside me but I'm alone in my heart

Forever and ever seem so far behind

The heart surrenders to a fate unkind

Always searching for a way to rewind

Out of reach is always where it seems love resides

Where Love Resides appears on the Eden On Fire album Unresolved.
